IMIA Key Contributors Spotlight
San Diego, California May 2021
Members of the IMIA Production team were recently recognized for their outstanding efforts by Captain John Bauer, Commanding Officer Southwest Regional Maintenance Center—Pacific, who visited the USS Comstock with leaders from NASSCO, San Diego on May 5th.
The IMIA Production team, led by Superintendent Brian Ouellette, played a vital role in the project’s success right from the beginning during the planning phase, when the team was able to integrate the sequencing of all tank preservation throughout the duration of the project. Numerous tanks were able to be opened and certified as gas free throughout the ship quickly, which enabled IMIA to accomplish full abrasive blast and coat in 15 ballast tanks, SP-11 power tool repair in 20 tanks, and SP-6 blast on 25,000 square feet of well deck surface with an optimized approach.
The extensive planning, superior attention to detail, and key contributions of the IMIA Production team, while working with, or alongside other subcontractors, NASSCO’s Ship Building Specialists and Project Team resulted in the outstanding efforts recognized by Captain Bauer. The team was also recognized by IMIA with on-the-spot bonuses for their superior efforts.
Well done to the Production team in the Southwest Region!
